The Monday after Christmas, I took the family down to Myrtle Beach for the week. At first, we were just going to stay a couple of nights, but thanks to our good friends at expedia.com, we stayed the whole week! The first night we were there, and after the kids were tucked in bed, I set up on the beach, tied some bottom rigs on my line, added a few slices of squid for bait, and waited for something to happen. I wasn't really thinking I would catch anything that night (around midnight), but I did--4 sharks actually! they were each just under 2 feet long, but not very thick. Still, I gave them plenty of respect before releasing them back into the water. I fished a couple of more time during the day, but that wasn't nearly as enjoyable. It wasn't because I didn't catch anything, but because tons of people kept coming by asking me all sorts of questions. I didn't really mind the conversations. I was just thinking I'd get some solitude. The best part of the week though was just hanging out with my girls (Brooke, Emma, Riley, and Ava). I cooked all the meals during the week, spend hours with the kids at the pool, and ate a good bit of ice cream too. It was a wonderful way to spend the last week of deer season! :)
